About

Darron Roop

Our adventure began years before, but in 2003 Darron launched Roop Yacht to support customers and builders alike in attaining their visions.

Darron’s journey has included founding elements of all sorts to build the knowledge that will best serve our clients.  They began with studies at Virginia Tech in Ocean/Aerospace Engineering.  His early career was a working education, starting with time in the boatyards of Wanchese, NC as a loftsman and carpenter.  This education continued through action, as production and engineering support at custom and production boat and yacht builders.  There was also tenure developing designs under other naval architects, as well as time supporting fast naval craft.

Pulling from the experience of many projects and businesses, Darron honed processes and design philosophies to ensure the best designs are made in our office.  Early projects included hull designs to 62-feet for both outboard and inboard powered boats focused on sportfishing.  As manufacturing and construction techniques evolved the role of Roop Yacht evolved with it, taking lead in the development of product lines and motoryacht design to 100-feet (30 meters), working with groups on every continent (save Antarctica).  Roop Yacht continues to evolve to support our customers in times where resources are scarce, content needs on each vessel have increased substantially, and the urgency of completion dates become more critical.

Most of all we want to make an impact on this industry to benefit all that use, build, and support the recreational marine industry.  It is flattering to see our ideas emulated on other boats and yachts, so we continue to strive for new concepts and solutions to keep us all enjoying time spent on the water.
